For a few years now I have been musing about the law of attraction. "The
Secret" was my introduction and I watched the dvd with interest.... but
something felt wrong to me. Last year, a series of synchronicities led me
to a seminar and the concept of Abraham/ Esther and Jerry Hicks. Yet, once
again I had a bad feeling. Could this be discernment? I'm still learning
about that. At the seminar, I felt an energy of urgency amongst the
attendees. I had a feeling that it all compared with a scene from "Poseidon
Adventure" where many passengers were rushing to get out but they were
going the wrong way. Only some were going the right way. Does that make sense?
I've decided that maybe the law of attraction works but if it operates
with one's ego, it ultimately comes with life lessons to learn. However, if
one's "dream" is connected to God/ Source, then it is for the good of all. I think it was Oprah who said "the intention must be for you and your Divine purpose" Caroline says (p 216 Entering the Castle)... we relate to the cosmos as something we must constantly try to manipulate and outsmart. Books and seminars instruct people to focus, focus, focus on their thoughts and their positive energies on simple seven step or three step or one step methods that guarantee financial success, finding a soul mate and recovering health.
We're told that anything we want can be ours if we find the right mental
alchemical formula. Even though many thousands of people - if not millions
at this point - have tried to create their own universes through easy
steps or positive attitudes, I've not seen evidence that they succeeded. The popularity of such teachings is a testimony to the fact that our culture practices "psychic narcissism" which has become an obsession .............
And also (p 136) "What is right and wrong, fair and unjust, does not
revolve around you. You have to be willing to consider that, regardless of
the trauma, there is a divine purpose that moves in tandem with every
event in your life, painful and joyful" This is in contrast to my understanding of law of attraction and lastly, the prayer on pg 98 to me, says it all.....
"I open myself to divine guidance, I surrender myself to become as a channel for grace, healing and service as God directs my life".
So - to summarize, the law of attraction (to me) as it comes across
commercially is more about me me me and less about what God / the Source
and Me together are wanting. Once again we must be mindful of the ego and the part it plays in our co-creation.

Four years on and I'm noticing that manifestation is becoming more and more in the collective unconscious. It's certainly the "norm" in mine. There is no doubt about the power of the mind. Yesterday I was talking with a friend and she verbalised something which I have pondered for a long time. She wondered how living on the planet of CHOICE, if we believe we "come in" with a blue print (her words), how does THAT duality work?? I believe that if we are living in the flow (Tao/ way) AND we are in touch with our intent (Source contract), our choices will be according to the script anyway. It is only when our ego-mind alone is driving those manifestations that the journey becomes challenging. We have come here to learn the difference between an EGO-driven path versus the path of CO-CREATION which will lead to the predicted UNITY CONSCIOUSNESS.
Today (as happens) I picked up a well-loved book of mine written by Robert Ohotto. A couple of pages were ear marked from way back - but (of course) they were exactly about the topic in question. The book is "Transforming Fate into Destiny" - page 70
.... " The Law of Attraction can only be effective, both in positive and negative ways, within certain boundaries of your agreements with Fate and Destiny. Therefore it has limits of operation within your life's purpose, and can only transform Fate into Destiny when its connected to the intentions of your soul and the Divine.
In other words, the Law of Attraction is a creative power of the soul and simply can't be used to acquire what the ego wants, if the soul isn't on board, for better or worse." Further along, the book goes into more detail on this, but I'm happy that Ohotto and I are on the same page with this one.
So, for those of you who experience what is called bipolar 1 (with psychoses??) a good example is you could DRIVE your synchronicities along with your powerful ego-mind ( attached to outcomes) and call it PROPHECY OR you could step back, allow, surrender, detach from outcomes and call it a DREAM. Two opposing energies in this world of duality. If you bipolarites could "get this", how the world could change!
